Mr. Thermon Lee Callen, Jr., affectionately known as "B.B." by those who knew him best, passed away on February 28, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on October 4, 1948, in Jones, Alabama, B.B. was a beacon of kindness and generosity throughout his life. His final days were spent surrounded by the love and warmth of his family in Plantersville, Alabama.
B.B.'s journey began in Jones, where he was born to the late Thermon and Edith Lee Callen. He grew up alongside his siblings, developing a bond that only deepened with time. His sisters, the late Rosa Lee Sherrer and Bertha Daniels, and his surviving sister Willie Ann (Johnny) James, as well as his brother Lawrence (Geraldine) Callen, shared in the tapestry of memories that B.B. cherished throughout his life. The family circle extended to include four nephews, five nieces, three uncles, and five aunts, each of whom held a special place in B.B.'s heart.
The love story of B.B. and his wife, Barbara Jean Callen, was one for the ages. Together, they navigated life's ups and downs, always finding strength in their partnership and love. Their unwavering commitment to each other was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing them.
B.B. was a man of faith, a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Orville, Alabama. His belief in the importance of community and service was evident in the way he lived his life. He was a pillar of the church and a source of comfort and support for many of its members.
Those who knew B.B. would describe him as the embodiment of kindness. He approached life with a gentle spirit and a heart that knew no bounds when it came to giving. His compassion was felt not only by his family but also by the many friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched.
B.B.'s interests and hobbies were a reflection of his character. He invested time in the things that mattered most to him, including his relationships and his faith. His presence in the community was a constant reminder of the goodness that resides within us all.
As we remember B.B., we hold onto the lessons he taught through his actions. To be kind, to love without reservation, and to be a steadfast friend and family member. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the quiet strength that comes from a life well-lived.
B.B. leaves behind a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Yet, in the wake of his passing, we take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on in each act of kindness we bestow upon others. His influence will continue to be felt, and his memory will be cherished forevermore.
Mr. Thermon Lee Callen, Jr. was a shining example of what it means to live a life filled with love and kindness. As we bid farewell to B.B., we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the indelible mark he left on the world. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his story continue to inspire us all.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who shared in B.B.'s life. Your presence and support have been a source of great comfort during this time.
