Rosa Lee Scott Tarver was born September 28, 1936, in Dallas County, Alabama to the late George and Annie Mae Steen Scott. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Zion #1 M. P. Church under the leadership of Rev. George Cook, Sr. She attended New Sister Springs Baptist Church until her health declined. On August 12, 1956, she was united in holy matrimony to Pettis Tarver. She peacefully departed this life on November 16, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, George and Annie Mae Steen Scott; her spouse, Pettis Tarver; a son, Frederick Devan Tarver; and three sisters, Georgia Mae Pratt, Freddie Mae Meadows and Elizabeth Brothers.
She leaves to cherish and honor her memories five sons: Pettus Jerome (Gloria) Tarver, Reginald Tyrone Tarver, and Roderick Bernard (Clementine) Tarver all of Selma, Alabama; Gregory Eric Tarver of Meridianville, Alabama; and Jonathan Anthony (Tonya) Tarver of College Park, Georgia; Four daughters: Jacqueline Lanett Tarver-James (Harry) of Riverdale, Georgia; Valerie Michelle Tarver-Craig (Alvin, Jr.) of Valley Grande, Alabama; Bridgette Diane Tarver of College Park, Georgia; and MeKeisha LeShun Tarver-Thomas (Keith) of Montgomery, Alabama. A devoted granddaughter, Ekandrea Dimera Tarver of McDonough, Georgia; one sister, Letha Galloway Dillard of Prattville, Alabama; and one brother, Lawrence Scott of Cleveland, Ohio. One sister-in-law, Estella Tarver of Selma, Alabama. Ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She has a special childhood friend, Della Mae Johnson; and other special friends who lives she impacted as well: Rose M. Watts, Angelica Evans, Stacey Lancaster, Tessie Winslow, J'Varra McCall and Dr. Sherica Braxton.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00PM from the New Sister Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Karl Lewis, officiating. Interment will follow in the Serenity Memorial Gardens with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home serving with excellence through professional service. Mrs. Tarver will lie in repose one hour prior to the funeral hour at the church.
