Rocinia "Ro" Canard Hollaway, Sr. was born on February 16, 1980, to Shirley Mae Hollaway and Stanley Lindsey, Sr., in Selma, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church alongside his family. Rocinia was raised in a close-knit, praying, God-fearing family, values that sustained him throughout his life. His childhood home at 211 Minter Avenue, in a neighborhood known as "The Bottom," became the stomping ground for many of Rocinia's friends from school and surrounding neighborhoods. Everyone knew they could always get a good meal at the Hollaway house. Rocinia was known for being the life of the room; his quick wit, his jokes, and his master grilling skills made sure of that. His white chicken chili and judo chops were family favorites.

He graduated from Selma High School in 1998 and Wallace Community College in 2006. He also attended Selma University and studied physical education. Rocinia was beloved at his job as a floor technician and maintenance man at Lighthouse Nursing Home, where both residents and staff were simply crazy about him. He was an active community member and a proud part of the parent booster club at Selma High School, where his unofficial title became "Drea's husband" or "Nicole's daddy." His response every time? "I'm still a G!" Usually said while working the concession stands with a grin.

Rocinia was more than just a man; he was and is the epitome of "a real one." He adored his wife and children, served his family and community faithfully, and stood as a steady rock for all who knew him. He looked out for everyone and would do anything for anyone, no questions asked.

Rocinia touched more lives than we ever could have counted, and the way you have shown up for him, and for us, is a reflection of exactly who he was. He loved people well, and it is clear that people loved him right back.

Rocinia was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Lindsey, Sr.; his grandmother, Willie B. Lindsey; his aunt, Bernice Tabb; and his grandfather, Major Daniel Hollaway.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Andrea Coleman-Hollaway; three children, Ah'Miyaah Jones, Rocinia Jr., and Nicole Hollaway; his mother, Shirley Hollaway; his grandmother, Ida Mae Hollaway (whom he affectionately called "Bay Child"); his brothers, Dexter (Kevin), Khada (Meka), Stanley Jr. (LaTasha), Sherron (Natasha), and Marcus; his sisters, Camella and Candice; a bonus mother, Jewel Brown; sisters-in-love, Tameka, Tykea, and Te'Airea; his aunts, Terry (Robert), Lynn, Stephanie, Gertie (Leroy) Robinson, Gloria Lindsay, and Renee Ketchum; his uncle, Jeffery; his great-aunts, Mary (Hosea) Echols; Dossie Hunter; and Willie Otis (Lucy) Hunter; his nieces and nephews, Trinity, Mahogany, Autum, Colvin, Ta'Mon, Ray'AuhNah, Ta'Mear, Nevaeh, Sherron Jr., Araunah, Megan, JaNarius, KenTavious, Jayden, Shanoria, Carolyn, Caitlyn, Amari, Layla, and Jaxxon; his great-nieces, Ari'Elle and Dez'Arae; his first cousins, Correnda, Damion (Kei), Antoine (Stacey), Algernon, Kayla, Neikeyla, Jeffrey Jr., Kentory, and Eutikey; his great-cousins, Kalinda, Maleeka, Danielle (Anthony), Antoine Jr., Azaria, Arianna, Devion, Marquavious, Jaylen, Zion, Nehemiah, and Maliyah; his great-great-cousins, Kerrington, Kingsley, Madison, Damorie, Aiden, Braiden, Caiden, and Elena; his lifelong best friends since childhood, Carlos Watts, DeShaun (Kim) Walker, and Daniel McReynolds; dear friends who are also family, Creshaunda (Henry) Powell, Robert (Kim) Spencer, Nelson Braxton, Tempestt Canty, and Paris "P-Love"; and a host of additional relatives, loved ones, co-workers, classmates, and friends who also remain to celebrate his life and legacy.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 1:00PM from the Selma High School auditorium with Pastor Kelvin Cockrell, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineview Memory Gardens with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home serving with excellence through professional service.
