She was preceded in death by her father, Elder Johnnie Bonner, Sr, grandparents, Frank & Willie Mae Norris and Roshell Bonner & Areula Draine, one brother, Johnnie Bonner, Jr, and two nephews, Johnnie Bonner, III and Alicostro Moore.
She Lived Purposely
Phyllis was a proud graduate of Southside High School Class of 1983. Known for her class and refined style, Minister Bonner carried herself with poise, confidence, and a humble spirit. She was a woman of unwavering faith, remarkable grace, and timeless elegance known for her gift of fashion and decorating. She was a devoted servant of God whose life reflected virtue, wisdom, and love. She lived by the Biblical verses, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”; and “It’s better to give than it is to receive”. Phyllis’s generosity caused God’s favor to follow and embrace her throughout her days, even during her sickness.
She Served
Minister Bonner confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Town Creek Baptist Church. One of her greatest accolades was accepting a calling into ministry and becoming a licensed minister at Potter’s Place (TCM). She served as an Associate Minister, Overseer of Pastor’s Aide, founded Bag of Hope Ministry, and was a member of the Decorating Committee. One of her most dedicated and greatest gifts was to nurture and educate children while serving as Assistant Director of Potter’s Enrichment Academy for many years.
