Minister Christopher James Watts, Sr., of Selma, Alabama, was called home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2025, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL.  Born on December 25, 1957, in Selma to Mr. James Smith and Ms. Willie Ann Watts graced this world with his presence for 67 years.

Christopher was a devoted family man and a pillar in his community. A skillful diesel mechanic and truck driver by trade, he possessed a remarkable ability to diagnose mechanical issues at first sight, earning him much respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike. His expertise and dedication were unparalleled.

He was a faithful member and associate minister of Summer Grove Baptist Church, where he served his congregation with unwavering faith and commitment. His spiritual guidance and compassionate nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Christopher was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Willie Ann Watts and James Smith, along with numerous other cherished family members.

He leaves to honor his memory his loving children: Tarsha Watts of Selma, AL; Shawalto (Ceceila) Watts of Selma, AL; Chris Watts of Pensacola, FL; Edwina Williams of Huntsville, AL; Christina Watts of Memphis, TN; and Eric Gunn (Watts) of Connecticut. He is also survived by his siblings: Clementia Watts of Atlanta, GA; Annie Watts of Selma, AL; Sonya Smith of Selma, AL; McArthur Watts of Fort Myers, FL; Curtis Watts of Atlanta, GA; and Tim Watts of Atlanta, GA.

Christopher's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Tashiayana Wilson, Christina Watts, Demetrius Johnson, Va'Queisha Watts, Ja'Maya Watts, Celia Watts, and a host of great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his teachings and love of life.

He is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Otis Hatcher of Plantersville, AL, and Calvin Glover of Atlanta, GA, along with many dear friends and extended family members who will remember him fondly.

Minister Christopher James Watts, Sr. will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. His spirit of kindness, love, and strength will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace with the Lord.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 12:00pm from the Summer Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Will Jackson, pastor and Elder Johnny Bell, officiating.  Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home serving with excellence through professional service.
