Margaret Patricia Rivers Moore, affectionately known to her family and friends as “Honey Bunch”, was born March 30,1941, in Selma, Alabama, to Mrs. Bernice Whetstone Rivers and Mr. Elijah Leon Rivers Sr. She departed from her earthly home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. 

At an early age, Margaret accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L.L. Anderson. She later joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joshua Davis. Margaret occasionally fellowshipped with her grandchildren at Fresh Anointing House of Worship Selma, where Pastor Coley C. Chestnut Sr. is the overseer.

Margaret was educated in the Selma City School System and was a proud graduate of R.B. Hudson High School. She worked as a front desk clerk (Pink Lady) for 15 years at Vaughan Regional Medical Center and was also a devoted babysitter for many family members and friends. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Margaret valued family above all else. She found joy in watching western movies and had a deep love for growing flowers and tomatoes.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Elijah and Mrs. Bernice Rivers; her husband, Roosevelt Moore; her sons, Vincent Mitchell and Roderick Moore; her sisters Delores Rivers and Berenice Jenkins; her nephews, Andre Jenkins, and Andrew Jenkins Jr.; her aunts, Valeria Thornton, Ruth Green, Evelyn Murry, and Julia Williams; her uncles, James Whetstone, and Gasper Whetstone.  Margaret leaves behind a loving legacy and cherished memories through her family one daughter, Roselyn Moore of Selma, Al, one brother, Elijah Leon Rivers Jr.(Jeannette) of Hartford, CT; one sister Valeria Ann Rivers-Davis of Birmingham, Al; four granddaughters, Erika Cleveland-Mims(Earnest), Natasha Mitchell(Roderick) both of Selma, Al, Sherrita Blackmon of Marietta,Ga, Kendall Martin of Birmingham, Al; Two grandsons, Julian Cheese(Amanda) of Tuscaloosa, Al, Vincent Moore of Selma, Al; three great-granddaughters, Timaya Jennings and Kaitlyn Smith both of Selma, Al, Chassity Hall of Birmingham, Al; eight great-grandsons, Donald and Dante Richardson, Terrance Douglas, and Kaycen Mitchell-Smith all of Selma, Al, Jaxon, Landon, Presley, and Cayden Cheese all of Tuscaloosa, Al; one great great-grandson Kaiden Richardson; one great great-granddaughter Riley Richardson, both of Selma, Al; two sister in laws, Lula Hatcher and Sonja Travis both of Selma, Al; a daughter in love, Carolyn Mitchell of Selma, Al; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Margaret’s love for God was unwavering, and she lived her life as a testament to His grace and mercy. Her faith guided her through life’s challenges, and she found strength in His promises. She often spoke of His goodness and encouraged others to trust in Him. Though she is no longer with us in body, Margaret’s love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of faith, warmth, and generosity will never be forgotten.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2:00PM from the Fresh Anointing House of Worship, Selma, AL  Ms. Moore will lie in state an hour prior to service. Burial will follow in the Serenity Memorial Gardens with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home of Selma, AL serving with excellence through professional service.
