Marcus Eugene “Mark” Hunter, passed away on January 13, 2026 at the age of 66. He was born on August 17, 1959 to the late Eugene “Bubba” Hunter and Lois Smith Hunter.
Mark was a family man. He loved spending time with his late wife, Sue, his children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed taking trips down to South Alabama to visit his mom and siblings. Mark retired from the City of Selma Water Works Department in 2024 and currently was working part time for Bama Budweiser of Selma. He enjoyed his years with the City of Selma and made numerous friends throughout his career.
Mark was an avid Alabama fan and loved to watch the Crimson Tide play. He was also a lifelong member of the Selma VFW Post 3016, where he made some of his fondest memories. From karaoke to pool tournaments, from stew sales to BBQ, from bingo to darts, Mark loved to have a good time making memories that will last a lifetime.
Mark leaves behind his children, Marcus “Bryant” Hunter, Brandon Madison, and Christy (Richard) Johnson; grandchildren, Logan Madison, Kayleigh Hunter (Ethan Everidge), Caroline Johnson, Abby Johnson, and Mary Johnson; his mother, Lois Smith; siblings, Mike Hunter, Connie Hill (Michael), Cindy Burnett (Christy Dee), and Crystal Hunter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leighton “Shorty” (Tonya) Gandy, Jr., Kenneth “Cookie” Gandy, Jeff (Betty Sue) Gandy, Sharron Lawrence, Richard Gandy, and Travis Gandy; friend and special sister, Delene Smith; and numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.
