Mother Lillie Pearl Cook, age 98, of Dallas County, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025. Born on July 10, 1926, in Perry County, Alabama to Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Zada Miree. Lillie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout her remarkable life.
Lillie's faith was an integral part of her life. She was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Perry County, AL, before moving her membership to College Hill AME Church. There, she became a beloved church mother and dedicated choir member, providing guidance and support to many in her congregation until her passing.
Lillie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Anthony Cook, Jr.; her parents: Mr. Jimmy and Mrs. Zada Miree; her sisters: Rosie Minniefield, Alberta Morton, Lucille Sorsby, Francis Clark, Betty Mae McKeithen, Gertrude Blevins, and Annie Whitted. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Miree, Hezie Miree, Capus Miree, and her special sister-in-laws Olilian Ford and Earlene Cook, and a special brother-in-law, Seaborn Cook.
Lillie leaves behind a loving family, including her children, Ernestine Cook (Willie) LeSure of Dayton, OH; Ervin (Mary) Cook, Alphonso (Mary) Cook, Zederine Bell (Cecli), and Eric (Sharon) Cook, all of Selma, AL and Debra (Will) Fuller of Montgomery, AL. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren, as well as special cousins Willie P. Cook and Margaret Cook, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish her memory.
Known affectionately as "Mother Cook," she was revered in her community not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her profound intelligence. Renowned for her proficiency in mathematics, Lillie served as the community's income tax preparer and was a skilled quilter and seamstress. A proud alumnus of Knox Academy in Selma, AL, she took great pride in her educational achievements and passed on her love for learning to her family.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00AM from the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the College Hill AME Zion Churchyard Cemetery with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home of Selma, AL serving with excellence through professional service.
