Joseph Strowder Obituary

Joseph Edward Strowder was born April 3, 1961 in Selma, Alabama to Millie Lee Strowder Ford who preceded him in death.

Joseph confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a devoted member.  He loved praying and singing. Joseph faithfully served as an ordained deacon and a member of the Male Chorus, as well as sang with the Morning Star Sanctuary Choir.   He also participated in weekly Bible study.  Joseph used his gifts to bless others and honor God.

Joseph was educated in the Selma City School System.  Joseph developed a trade as a steel worker and worked on various jobs throughout the State of Alabama.

Joseph had an infectious laugh that will remain in the hearts of those that loved him.  He lost his sight at an early age but was gifted with wisdom beyond measure.  Joseph enjoyed the pleasures of family gatherings, checking on family members, fellowshipping with his homeboys, and brother and simply enjoying life.

Due to his blindness, his brother Fena, endeared himself to him rendering his time, attention, and energy. The bond will never be broken.

He was affectionately called " Baby Joe" by his mother, although he was the eldest of four children..

Joseph was preceded in death by his mother Millie Lee Ford; Sister: Thomasine Strowder; Son: Tony Walker, and Nephew: Johnathan.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted brother: Alfred (Fena) Ford, and estranged brother: Stanford Ford, two daughters: Annette (Ryan) Brock of Wooster, Ohio and Antoinette of Montgomery, AL; one son:  Anthony Woods of Wooster, Ohio; Four grandchildren: Marquis, Rhyanna, Amelia, and Zakia all of Wooster, OH.  One niece: Mandy Strowder; One nephew:  Tommie (Rochelle) Strowder; Three great nieces:  Madelyn Strowder, Kamiylle Strowder, and Kalialee Strowder; one great-nephew:  Tommie Strowder, Jr., and a host of cousins and friends.  He will dearly be missed by the “LL Anderson Porch Family.” He will be dearly missed by his special friend, Gloria.
