Joseph Ronal (Smokin Joe) Pritchett, 73, transitioned, entering the heavenly kingdom on April 5, 2025, 5:00am at the age of 73. He was born on November 23, 1951, to the late Rev. Joseph Ronal Pritchett Sr and Louise Pritchett in Selma AL. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Johnnie Pritchett, Susie Pritchett, Jimmy Pritchett, James Pritchett, Sallie Turner, and Arthur Pritchett. 

Mr. Pritchett was a US Air Force Veteran who served his country honorably. He was an HBCU graduate from Howard University earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Psychology he also attended the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed as a Correctional Officer at SCI-Greensburg in Greensburg Pa and retired in 2013 after 34 years of dedicated service.  He moved back to his roots Selma Al in May 2016. Continuing with his dedication to service he was the First Vice Commander of the American Legion Post 20 in Selma Alabama. He was a member of Master Mason Shriners International and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Joe an avid Alabama football fan enjoyed and loved watching University of Alabama “Roll Tide” football games, the Pittsburgh Steelers, in addition to being very fond of Coach Tony Dungy, Nick Saban, Jalen Hurts, and Justin Fields and attending the Montgomery Biscuits Baseball games. He enjoyed working out at his local Planet Fitness followed by having a meal or two with his family members and friends at one of his favorite restaurants Baum Hower’s Victory Grille, Chipotle’s, Applebee’s or Waffle House.  

Mr. Pritchett leaves to cherish his memory and legacy with his 3 daughters and 1 son: Yvette Pritchett of McKeesport, PA, Deanna Pritchett of Easton, MD, Joseph (Krystin) Pritchett of McKeesport, PA, and Danielle Pritchett of McKeesport, PA. Significant and dedicated other half, Faye Beanita Woods of Selma, Alabama. One brother, Coley Turner, Jr of Ohio. Two special friends from SCI Greensburg, Toni Walker-Colland and Robert “Skeeter” Hampton; and fellow Legionnaires at American Legion Post 20 with special mention of Commander Cox. His Aunts: Brenda and Mable McBride. Grandchildren: Alize’, Trinity, Zarhya, Treyshaun, Josiah, Serenity, Arianna, and Adrian; 3 Great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. We must not forget his two pet Cockatiel companions: Peepers and Peedee.  

Graveside services have been scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2025 at 11:00AM from the New Live Oak Cemetery with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home of Selma, AL serving with excellence through professional service.
