Ms. Dorothy C. Melton, a beloved mother and friend was born on October 7, 1942, to the late Mr. Nick and Mrs. Mattie Lee Cleveland. Mrs. Dorothy confessed Christ at an early age and joined Marietta Church.
Ms. Dorothy dedicated her life and served faithfully on the usher board, deaconess ministry, and served as missionary president at Marietta Church. She later in life consistently visited and fellowshipped with Potter’s Place Church in Selma, Alabama. She was a very kind and loving mother who went over and beyond to do all she can for her family and others.
Ms. Dorothy departed this life on July 3, 2025. She was preceded in death by her two sons: Timothy Cleveland and Samuel Melton, one great-granddaughter: Riley N. Moss, two sisters: Johnnie Mae Ellison and Beatrice Cleveland, four brothers: James C. Cleveland, Tommy L. Cleveland, Otis L. Cleveland, and L.C. Cleveland. On God-son: Issac Melton, Jr.
Ms. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories four daughters: Dorothy J., Cynthia, Loretta, and Elaine Melton. Two sons: Jeffery and Joseph Cleveland. Three sisters: Ollie M. Carter, Lillie Sanders, Annie M. Kornegay. One brother: Grady Cleveland. One Goddaughter: Mary Ann Melton Dixon (Jessie Dixon). 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2:00PM from the Potters Place Church with Bishop PE Bonner, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Marietta Churchyard Cemetery with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home serving with excellence through professional service.
