Deacon William Watts Sr. was born September 9, 1941, in Sardis, Alabama, to the late Robert Watts and Minnie Bell Cole Watts. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Sardis, Alabama where he served faithfully as a deacon.
He was united in holy matrimony to the late Hattie Pearl Newberry Watts with whom he shared many years of love, faith, and devotion.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, William was preceded in death by his siblings Alberta Thomas, James Watts, Beondra Watts, Neal Doss, and son William Watts Jr.
Deacon Watts leaves to cherish his everlasting memories sisters Lee Esther Howard and Lillie Blevins-Wilson. Children: Denice Watts, Patrick Watts (Selena), Sophia Hill, and Calvin Hill. Aunt: Eva Cole. In-Laws: Irma Doss, Mattie Bonnor, Esther Oliver, Brenda Newberry, Paul Manzie, Jerry Newberry and Michael Newberry. Grandchildren; Alex Watts (Roslyn), Shermika Watts (John) Brown, William (Katrina) Brown, Kendra Brown (Michael), David Watts, Kayla Holloway, Patrick Watts Jr., Brittany Brown (Jarrin), Tamara Mitchell, Shakelia Hobbs, and Artasha Hobbs, a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and one very special friend James (Rick) Wilson.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 1:00PM from New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Sardis, AL with the Reverend Bryant Butler, officiating. Burial will follow in the Churchyard cemetery with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home serving with excellence through professional service.
