To know Deacon Glover was to know a true gentleman of unmatched respect, dignity, and strength. He took great pride in his appearance and was legendary for his sharp attire. Whether he was wearing one of his luxury, high-quality suits, a perfectly coordinated hat, or his finest shoes, he embodied true class and elegance.
Yet, his heart was even bigger than his style. “Sarge” never met a stranger, and he committed his life to helping anyone in need, whether he knew them or not. He greeted the world with a constant smile, and whenever anyone asked how he was doing, his signature, joyful response was always, “Lovely”.
A true child of God, Mr. Eugene Glover built a legacy of faith, love, and resilience that his family will maintain for generations to come. He has returned to the Father, leaving the world a much brighter and more elegant place.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted and loving wife, Classie: four sons, Anthony of Pelham, AL, Darryl (Twyla) of Prattville, AL, Jeffery (Shameka) of Hampton, GA, and Reginald (Taneshia) of Selma, AL; one daughter, Tomika “Precious” (Milton Richardson) of Norcross, GA; ten grandchildren, seven bonus grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, Lee Van Glover of Selma, AL, and Deshawn Hale of Savannah, GA; one sister, Betty Scott of Goldsboro, NC; three sisters-in-law, Mary Bush of Cedar Hill, TX, Bertha Glover and Ann Hatcher both of Selma, AL; three brothers-in-law, George Bush, Randolph Scott, and Larry Acoff: and two aunts, Willie Lee Cox and Mary Jo Kiner of Chicago, IL, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
