Catherine Frazier Hunter was a mighty woman of God who served faithfully in many capacities throughout her life. She was an awesome wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin.

She transitioned peacefully from labor to reward on January 2, 2026, in Montgomery, Alabama.

Catherine was born on November 4, 1936, to the late Emma C. Frazier and Lovell Perry, Sr.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Willie James Hunter; her Parents, Emma C. Frazier and Lovell Perry, Sr.; One (1) sister, Emma Smith; and Four brothers (4), Joe L. Frazier, Fred Frazier, Lovell Perry, Jr., and Daniel Watts. Three (3) daughters: Sallie Gaston, Annette Hunter, and Nakita Hunter; and Two sons-in-laws (2), Vernon Hardy, Sr. and Anthony K. Hardy.

At an early age, Catherine confessed Christ and united with Sandridge Baptist Church. She later joined Zion No. 1 Missionary Primitive Church, where she and her husband, Willie James, provided many young people an avenue to Christ through their God-given gift of singing. She later united with Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church. Following the leading of the Spirit of the Lord, she continued her faithful walk with God.

Catherine married Willie James Hunter on May 7, 1954 and together, 7 children were born.

She leaves cherishing her memories, (5) daughters: Helen (Julius) Hardy, Lillian Dunning, Daphine Hardy, all of Selma, AL; Clara Hardy, Fort Deposit, AL; and Karen Hunter, Montgomery, AL.

(2) sons: Willie James Dunning, Selma, AL and Rickey Dunning, Riverdale, GA.

Sister-in-law: Esther Steiner, Cleveland, Ohio. One (1) son-in-law: Gaston, Cincinnati, Ohio. Four (4) sisters: Shirley (Martin) Williams, Lillian Bradford, Texas; Constance England, Sprott, AL; and Blanche Jones, Selma, AL.

Three (3) brothers: Vince (Salenda) Perry, Texas; Curtis Watts; Timothy Watts, Georgia. Twenty-three (23) grandchildren, Forty-three (43) Great -grands, Three (3) Great-great-grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. One God son: Zachary (Rosalyn) Operton, Meridian, MS.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1:00 pm from the House of Prayer Christian Church in Selma ,AL with Pastor David Perry, officiating. Burial will follow at the Serenity Memorial Gardens with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home serving with excellence through professional service. Ms. Hunter will lie in repose one hour prior to her service.
