Bobby Louis Bowers Sr. was born December 15, 1962 to the late Adeline Marie Bowers and Samuel Bowers Jr. in Selma, Alabama.
At an early age, Bobby cultivated a deep sense of community and a great pride in the city of Selma. A proud graduate of Selma High School, Bobby remained connected to and made a lasting impression on his classmates, teachers, and the school community as a whole.
More than being accepted to the Navy’s Nuclear Program, more than his widely admired intellect, and more than being an expert in all things Bama Football; Bobby’s greatest accomplishment was being a devoted and present father and grandfather. Bobby was always available to be a listening ear, a sounding board, a paper editor, and to give a harsh or kind word, whichever was needed. He always strived to be who his children needed, at times sacrificing his own ambitions. Lovingly known as “Old Geezer”, “Grandaddy Bobby”, “Jarrett’s Partner”, Daddy, brother and friend. Bobby shared a beautiful relationship with his children, grandchildren, and many loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his favorite sister Susie LeSure and his brother Samuel Bowers III. He leaves to cherish his memory: Siblings: Michael Bowers, Christopher Bowers, and James Carter; Children: Candice Bowers Bradley (Wesley), Kathryn Bowers Hawley (Jarrett), Bobby Bowers Jr., Trajaan Bowers, Tre’Myyah Bowers, and Alicia Cleveland; Grandchildren: Jarrett Hawley Jr., Jackson Hawley, Leon Woods Jr., and Gabrielle Woods.
He also leaves behind his former spouses Tyniece Bonnet and Florene Tyus with whom he shared a lasting friendship.
