Ammie McMillian Jones was the sixth child born to the late David McMillian and Adoris Keith McMillian on July 22, 1957, in Orville, Alabama. Ammie ascended to her eternal resting place at home on October 20, 2025.
Ammie confessed Christ at an early age and joined the New Rising Star Primitive Baptist Church. While on her Christian journey, she not only provided spiritual support and direction for her family, but to anyone that graced her presence. Ammie served faithfully as a the church secretary. Although she had a quiet demeanor, her spirit and the love that she had for others spoke loudly.
Ammie attended Keith High School in Orville, Alabama. She worked at American Apparel in Selma, Alabama for 45 years before retiring and the Resource Center in Orrville, Alabama.
Ammie was preceded in death by her parents: David and Adoris McMillian, sons, David Jones and Lester Jones, Jr.; sister, Ida McMillian.
Ammie leaves to cherish her love and memories: four devoted children, Lakeshia Lewis, Selma, AL, Roderick (Rhonda) Jones, Walls, MS, Cheryl (Marvin) Hatcher, Harker Heights, TX, David Jones, Orrville, AL; seven devoted sisters, Lorene Robinson, Kittie (Sylvester) Jacobs, Doris (Calvin) Myers, Julia Irby, Brenda (Kenneth) Mitchell, Bernice (Richard) Craig, Patricia McMillian; four devoted brothers, Daniel (Priscilla) McMillian, David (Lucinda) McMillian, Brye (Marie) McMillian, Kelvin (Denise) McMillian; two aunts, Essie (Robert) Hannah of Detroit, Ml. and Maggie Williams of Dayton, OH; thirteen grandchildren, Ca’Chasity Lewis, Chelsea Lewis, Cassidy Lewis, Torah Sanders, Lester Jones, III, Lamarian Hatcher, Marlyncia Hatcher, Marvin Hatcher, Jr., Camarius Moorer, Nykia Matthews, Quentavis Jones, JaMiya Jones, DeVeah Jones; four great grandchildren, Oakleigh Effinger, Kh’Ari Harris, Camarius Moorer Jr., Kylen Moorer; devoted friends Vivian James, Orean Gardner, Mary McGhee, Dorothy Craig, and Shelia Anderson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00pm from the New Rising Star Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Eugene Bennett, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home serving with excellence through professional service
